Protecting the cash value of goods

Quite simply, insurance provides the peace of mind that the cash value of goods is protected.

Insurance can be arranged for express courier shipments, although some restrictions and limitations may apply. Insurance cover is dependent on the contents of the shipment and delivery destination.

Standard Insurance Charges - Our insurance fee (including the premium) is only 1.5% of the value of the goods plus the shipping costs, subject to a minimum fee (including the premium) of £18.00.

It is important that customers include shipping charges within the declared insurance value. The value you declare needs to contain the full CIF value:

Shipping charges can be obtained by using the cost calculator function in myCrossflight.

There is a basic set of assumptions that enable us to insure a shipment and allow for a subsequent claim to be made for any loss or damage:

  • You are the owner of the goods and/ or are purchasing the insurance on behalf of a customer you are selling the goods to
  • You are domiciled in the UK
  • Goods have no pre-existing damage
  • Goods are not on either 'excluded' or 'referral' lists
  • Goods are suitably packed for transit

If you are unable to agree to all of these assumptions please contact our Customer Services team who will refer to our insurer to confirm if we are able to insure your goods and also offer professional packing solutions.

Smartphone and tablet Insurance

Safety for high value personal tech items

Special insurance arrangements apply to the carriage of smartphones and tablet devices and similar personal digital devices.

  • Personal Digital Devices - In the event that the consignment to be insured contains one or more mobile telephones, PDAs, Blackberrys or similar devices then the minimum insurance premium per applicable transportation waybill will be £30.00. This is subject to the condition that coverage is restricted to a value of £5000.00 for any one consignment. The maximum value of any one mobile phone / smart phone / Blackberry is £500.00 and the maximum value of any one tablet is £1000.000.
